Domain name scam

Πολλές επιχειρήσεις κατοχυρώνουν παράλληλα και διάφορες παραλλαγές του ονόματός τους ή ακόμη και των προϊόντων που αντιπροσωπεύουν.
Την παραπάνω συνήθεια έρχεται να εκμεταλευτεί η συγκεκριμένη απάτη εξαναγκάζοντας έναν ιδιοκτήτη domain να αγοράσει domains που δεν πρόκειται να χρειαστεί ποτέ του.
Παίρνουμε ένα e-mail από μια εταιρεία κατοχύρωσης ονομάτων του εξωτερικού η οποία μας ενημερώνει ότι κάποιος πελάτης της έχει ζητήσει να κατοχυρώσει κάποιο όνομα σε διάφορες παραλλαγές.
Μετά από έρευνα της (όπως μας λέει) ανακάλυψε ότι υπάρχει μια εταιρεία στην Ελλάδα που έχει κατοχυρωμένο το companyname.gr
Έτσι έρχεται σε μια πρώτη επαφή μαζί μας για να “διαπιστώσει” εάν ο πελάτης τους ενεργεί για λογαριασμό μας.
Εαν λάβει απάντηση από εμάς σαφώς θα είναι αρνητική οπότε η καλή και δίκαιη εταιρεία προσφέρεται να ρίξει τον πελάτη της και να πουλήσει σε εμάς τα domains αν κι εφόσον το επιθυμούμε.
Αν το πετύχει θα φύγει με 30-50$ το τεμάχιο και εμείς θα είμαστε έτοιμοι με τα νέα μας ονόματα να ανοιχτούμε πλέον ελεύθερα και ανταγωνιστικότατα στις αγορές της Κίνας, της Taiwan και του Hong Kong.
Παρακάτω βλέπετε δύο e-mails όπως έχουν σταλεί σε δύο διαφορετικούς ιδιοκτήτες domain στην Ελλάδα. Ενώ φαίνονται ότι προέρχονται από διαφορετικές εταιρείες, η σύνταξη που χρησιμοποιούν είναι κοινή αλλά και ο αριθμός fax ο ίδιος.

Right now we have an important issue to confirm with you. On April.9, 2010, we formally received an application, one company named “Consory Holdings Ltd” applied for the Internet keyword “companyname” and following domain names:
companyname.asia
companyname.cn
companyname.com.cn
companyname.com.hk
companyname.com.tw
companyname.hk
companyname.tw
companyname.us
with our organization.
During our preliminary investigation, we found that these domain names’ keyword is identical with your trademark. I wonder whether you consigned Consory Holdings Ltd to register these domain names with us? Or is Consory Holdings Ltd your business partner or distributor in Asia? If you have no relationship with this company, we assume that they have other purposes to obtain these domain names.
Currently, we have already postponed this company’s application temporarily. Therefore please let the relevant person make a confirmation with me by telephone or email as soon as possible.

On Apr., 22, 2010, we received an application formally from a company called “Prefod Holding Inc”, who want to apply for “companyname” and some domain names as their new brand keyword and the domain name in some accordingly countries. However, during our auditing process, we found that the keyword “companyname” is identical with your company’s name and trademark. Therefore, we send you this email and want to confirm whether Prefod Holding Inc is authorized by you or Prefod Holding Inc is your distributor or not ? We need to know the comment of your company because these domain names may relate to the copyright of brand name on internet.
Currently, we have already postponed this application from Prefod Holding Inc temporarily. Please let the relevant person make a confirmation with me by telephone or email ASAP.
